Your contributions
- Lead electrical, machinery, and functional safety topics and advise engineering teams on compliant system design
- Develop and maintain product certification for existing and new products, perform risk assessments and implement safety concepts/functions
- Drive Design for Compliance (DfC) and define design requirements for electrical and mechanical engineers, with early-stage guidance on creepage & clearance, thermal management, material flammability, reliability (FIT), redundancy (HFT), and diagnostic coverage (DC)
- Define safety concepts and control architectures; determine required PLr and SIL targets from risk assessments
- Review electrical designs for compliance with IEC 60204-1 and IEC 62368-1
- Facilitate and document hazard analyses and risk assessments in accordance with ISO 12100
- Perform and verify reliability calculations (MTTFd, DCavg) to demonstrate compliance with ISO 13849-1 and IEC 62061
- Mentor engineers and deliver internal training on electrical, machinery, and functional safety
- Research the regulatory environment and assess influence on product compliance
Your profile
- University degree in engineering or science (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or doctorate)
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the certification process of electrical and mechanical products
- Strong experience in machinery, electrical, and functional safety
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical engineering solutions
- Confident communicator with a pragmatic, hands-on mindset
- Knowledge of International and European standards, regulations, codes and directives as well as solid working knowledge of ISO and IEC standard organisational pratice
Bonus points:
- Working knowledge of various country approvals, regulatory marks and homologation processes
- Experience in certification of explosion-proof equipment (IECEx/ATEX)
- Experience with safety-relevant software such as SISTEMA or Pascal
- Experience in approvals for North America for UL and NFPA with standards such as NFPA 79 and UL 508A
