Key responsibilities
- Create YouTube-Optimized Scripts: Write scripts specifically designed to maximize audience retention and engagement.
- Drive Organic Leads: Use storytelling to naturally convert viewers into customers while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
- Streamline Production: Manage the process from idea to final draft to ensure efficient handovers and faster filming timelines.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate with Marketing teams to ensure video messaging aligns with company goals.
- Support departmental Needs: Provide scriptwriting support for other company needs outside of the main YouTube and social channels.
Skills and qualifications
- YouTube Strategy: Deep understanding of hooks, pacing, and retention structures specific to the YouTube algorithm.
- Adaptable Voice: Ability to write in different tones, switching between a personal brand voice and a corporate/educational brand voice.
- Complex Research: Experience taking technical topics (startups, finance, or tax) and simplifying them for a general audience.
- Process Ownership: Strong organizational skills to manage a high-volume production calendar and meet deadlines consistently.
- Production Awareness: Knowledge of how to format scripts with clear cues for B-roll, graphics, and editors.
- Experience: 1–3 years of professional experience writing scripts for high-growth YouTube channels or digital video platforms
Bonus qualifications
- Experience with A/B testing video titles, hooks, and script structures to continually optimize performance.
- Experience scripting content specifically for VC backed startups, entrepreneurship, or finance topics.
- Familiarity with YouTube SEO tools like TubeBuddy, VidIQ, or Google Trends.
- Ability to analyze YouTube Studio data (CTR and drop-off points) to improve future script performance.
