On the Job
- As an SDE-2 at Fam, you’ll be expected to independently design and build production-ready systems, not just implement tickets.
- Solve complex engineering problems using strong data structures and algorithms
- Design clean, extensible low-level designs (LLD) with well-defined abstractions
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code with speed and accuracy
- Own features end-to-end: design, development, rollout, monitoring, and iteration
- Participate actively in design reviews and code reviews
- Debug production issues and perform root-cause analysis
- Improve existing systems with a focus on correctness, performance, and scalability
Must-haves
- Required experience - 3 yrs to 5 yrs
- Excellent problem-solving skills with data structures & algorithms
- Ability to write clean, production-quality code under time constraints
- Deep hands-on experience in at least one language: Go / Python /Java
- Ability to design systems using proper abstractions (classes, interfaces, modules)
- Clear understanding of object-oriented design principles
- Comfortable discussing design trade-offs and alternatives
- Experience designing components/services—not just consuming existing ones
- Has owned features or modules from design to production
- Understands real-world engineering constraints (edge cases, failures, rollout)
- Comfortable working with existing systems and improving them meaningfully
Good to have
- Experience designing or significantly refactoring a system/component from scratch
- Exposure to scale-related concerns (performance, reliability, concurrency)
- Familiarity with distributed systems basics (APIs, queues, caching, async flows)
- Experience working on consumer-facing, high-traffic products
