The Role
- We are seeking a detail oriented and analytical intern to join our Operations division under the Asset Servicing team at Schonfeld in our New York or Long Island (Jericho) office. The group is primarily responsible for corporate actions processing, security master data integrity, and settlement breaks resolution. Throughout the program you will receive formal training, mentorship, and exposure to multiple groups including Core Operations, Middle Office, Technology, Market Data, Accounting, Portfolio Finance, our Fund Administrators, and Prime Brokers.
- The Operations team at Schonfeld takes on a wide range of responsibilities and challenges. They are responsible for successful processing within the trade life cycle – from supporting trading and portfolio managers all the way through to trade settlement.
What You’ll Do
- Corporate Action Processing - Support all mandatory events, such as stock splits, spinoffs, stock dividends, mergers, cash dividends, and facilitating voluntary elections by engaging with PMs and helping track election deadlines.
- Security Master Maintenance – Assist with data maintenance and gain an understanding of the various attributes of a security across all asset classes, including but not limited to market identifiers and OTC terms. Support the build out of new products as the firm continues to expand, helping to ensure all downstream systems and teams can capture the required data.
- Data Integrity Improvements - help build out tools to monitor reference data and strive to achieve the highest levels of data integrity that will ultimately be leveraged firmwide. Participate in process improvements and project initiatives to deliver firm initiatives and strategies that are scalable and efficient.
- Position breaks resolution – including reconciling, prioritizing, and resolving cash & position breaks related to corporate actions in a timely manner across PBs and our third-party administrators, with a potential to incorporate AI when appropriate to improve the process
What You’ll Bring
- What you need:
- Interest in gaining Operations experience at a hedge fund
- Basic understanding of capital markets, investing, and hedge fund strategies
- Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications
- We’d love if you had:
- A major in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or Computer Science
- Working knowledge of SQL and/or any programming language
- Prior experience using reporting or analytics tools with data aggregation
Our Internship
- The Schonfeld summer internship provides students with a unique opportunity to experience Schonfeld, our work, our people, and our culture. Interns will typically join a small team and will spend 10 weeks at Schonfeld from June - August.
- Each summer intern will work on a tailored project that will provide them with real world experience. We provide all interns with a dedicated mentor and manager to help them navigate the summer successfully. Interns will also participate in our learning program, the Sapphire: Summer Session, which aims to provide tangible skills training and education on various functions across the firm and in the workplace. Along with the hands-on guidance and support from managers and mentors, interns will participate in weekly networking events, engage with our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alliance, attend panel discussions, and have many opportunities to get to know Schonfeld’s core values in practice.

- The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $42,000 and $52,000 which will be prorated based on internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications and experience and level of education.
