About Anthropic

  • Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the Role

  • Anthropic is looking for a Community Lead to drive the strategy and execution of our developer and builder community programs across EMEA. This is an early and high-impact role: you’ll be the regional owner for adapting centrally developed playbooks and programs to local markets, executing community activations on the ground, and identifying net-new opportunities that support a B2C2B growth motion across Europe.
  • You’ll work in close partnership with the central Community team in the US, which leads overall program operations, playbook development, and strategic direction. Your focus will be on market-specific execution, customization, and expansion — collaborating with EMEA sales, marketing, and product leads to develop the market entry and expansion strategy for community programs, and identifying which programs to deploy where and when based on regional priorities. Beyond adapting existing programs, you’ll be expected to identify and champion net-new opportunities — whether that’s a format, partnership, or activation that meets a specific need or gap in a local market that centrally developed playbooks don’t yet address.
  • The core of this role is scaling a community flywheel — recruiting and supporting local ambassadors, running recurring events, and converting community engagement into measurable business impact. You’ll take what’s been built centrally and make it work across priority EMEA markets, going deeper and moving faster than a remote-first approach allows.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of Anthropic's developer and builder community programs in EMEA, including the Claude Community Ambassador Program and local Claude Community Events
  • Collaborate with EMEA sales, marketing, and GTM leads to develop the regional community strategy: identifying which programs to deploy in which markets, when to launch, and how to align community activations with market entry and expansion priorities.
  • Identify, recruit, and support community ambassadors across priority EMEA cities — providing sponsorship, content, and operational support to enable them to host high-quality local events at scale
  • Develop and maintain a regional coverage map: for each priority market, define where ambassadors are needed, where events should run, and how to measure reach and engagement
  • Identify and champion net-new community opportunities that address specific needs or gaps in EMEA markets — whether that’s a new event format, a local partnership, or an activation that doesn’t yet exist in the global playbook — and build the case internally to resource and scale them
  • Partner closely with EMEA sales teams to create a community-driven pipeline — translating ambassador and event activations into qualified leads and sales opportunities
  • Build and track the metrics that matter: event coverage, ambassador retention, community growth, and — critically — the downstream impact on pipeline and conversion
  • Represent Anthropic in the EMEA developer and builder community, including speaking at conferences, contributing to online developer and builder communities, and building relationships with key technical influencers and builders in the region
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, and communications teams to ensure community activations are aligned with broader brand and go-to-market strategy

You may be a good fit if you

  • 8+ years of experience in developer relations, community management, or a closely related growth or marketing role, with a track record of scaling programs across multiple markets
  • Understand how to build and run developer or builder communities — from online engagement to in-person events — and can translate that experience into repeatable, scalable programs
  • Have a track record of identifying unmet needs in a market and building new programs or initiatives from scratch to address them — not just executing existing playbooks
  • Have strong experience working in or across EMEA markets and understand the nuances of localizing a global strategy for different regions
  • Have experience working across time zones with a US-based or globally distributed team, and are comfortable with the communication rhythms and async workflows that requires
  • Are comfortable working at the intersection of community and commerce — you understand how community programs can generate business impact, and you can build the attribution frameworks to show it
  • Have enough technical depth to engage credibly with developers and builders (e.g., familiarity with APIs, LLMs, or software development workflows), even if you don't write production code day-to-day
  • Are a strong communicator who can write clearly, speak at conferences, and build trust with both internal stakeholders and external communities
  • Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and are comfortable being an early hire in a region with significant room to shape the approach
  • Speak English fluently and are proficient in at least one other European language (German or French preferred; open to Italian or Spanish)

Strong candidates may also

  • Have experience with developer advocacy, technical content creation, or conference speaking
  • Have a background in go-to-market strategy or market expansion at a high-growth technology company
  • Speak multiple European languages fluently (German or French preferred; open to Italian or Spanish)
  • Have experience building and leading regional teams
  • Have worked on ambassador or community leader programs and understand how to recruit, retain, and scale them
  • Be familiar with the AI/ML landscape and excited about the opportunity to bring frontier AI capabilities to developers in new markets
  • The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
  • For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

How we're different

  • We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
  • The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
