What You'll Be Doing
- Guide the product philosophy, vision, and roadmap for our payments architecture, integrations, and experiences, with the goal of supporting all our businesses in the most efficient manner.
- Lead cross-functional execution with engineering, data science, design, marketing, partnerships teams to continually improve our payments platform as our businesses scale.
- Partner with our risk, legal, policy, safety, accounting teams to ensure our system is secure, compliant, and easily understood. Do this while always prioritizing the protection of our users and partner businesses.
- Clearly communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments, and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences from internal teams to executive levels, both internally and externally with payments partners.
- Together with other product teams, evolve the in-app ecosystem for all monetizable products to ensure a coherent and delightful experience for anything a user pays for.
- Empathize and relate to our users, especially those who are the most active on Discord.
What you should have
- 7+ years experience shipping great software, driving prioritization, setting timelines, with a track record of building durable monetization infrastructure.
- Experience building and maintaining wallets, payment UX flows, payment tokenization, purchasing/billing infrastructure, tax/accounting compliance, PCI compliance, giftcards, payouts, and geo-based payments.
- Experience partnering with processors/PSPs on consumer subscription businesses, consumer-based ecommerce businesses, integrations for new payment methods, and monetizing payments.
- Experience with Apple and Google mobile app store integrations, limitations, and creating unified experiences for mobile and desktop users
- Strong analytical ability to quickly organize and leverage data to make informed product decisions with cross-functional stakeholders. Experience making trade-offs related to achieving metric goals while maintaining stable infrastructure.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency and effectiveness working closely with engineers. Comfortable discussing APIs, data models, and system behavior with infrastructure engineers.
- Strong product sense for the consumer tech revenue space with deep understanding of how users go from free to paid.
Bonus Points
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical experience.
- Domain experience in payments, fintech, commerce, billing, or consumer subscriptions.
- Experience building and growing consumer social and/or online communication products.
- Experience working across or in multiple payment processors/PSPs in different regions of the world.
- Experience with high-fraud payment environments, include risk analysis and interventions
- Experience working with gift cards, especially for digital goods.
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000 to $279,000+ equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
