- The AI Platform team is building the unified platform that enables machine learning at a massive scale across all products and services. As a Senior Engineering Manager for the AI Platform, Data team, you will lead the development of the high-leverage data platform used by AI engineers, machine learning scientists, and product developers. You will be responsible for defining the long-term vision, strategy, and execution for the data foundation that powers the next generation of AI-driven products. This includes work on cutting-edge technologies like vector databases and knowledge graphs to enhance our data capabilities for advanced AI use cases.
- Lead and grow a high-performing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
- Define the roadmap, strategy, and execution plan for the AI Platform's Feature Engineering and the GenAI Platforms which handles prompt versioning and agent infrastructure.
- Collaborate with AI engineering, machine learning science, and product teams to understand their data needs and deliver platform capabilities that accelerate development and deployment of traditional AI and Generative models.
- Drive architectural decisions and set technical standards for reliability, scalability, and performance
- Oversee the end-to-end development life cycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, robust data solutions.
- Mentor and coach team members, providing continuous feedback and career development guidance.
- Manage cross-functional projects and communicate progress, risks, and challenges to leadership and stakeholders.
- A seasoned engineering leader with 5+ years of management experience and 8+ years of experience building large-scale, high-performance data platforms, machine learning infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Experienced in hiring, managing, and mentoring senior software engineers and technical leaders.
- Deeply knowledgeable about data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Flink, Kafka, distributed databases, data warehousing) and best practices for large-scale data processing and storage.
- Skilled at driving technical strategy and roadmap planning in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
- Able to establish strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners and senior leadership.
- Passionate about fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-energy engineering culture.
- Knowledgeable in the machine learning life cycle (MLOps) and the data requirements for training, serving, and monitoring models.
- A strong communicator, both written and verbal, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with real-time data processing and stream computing technologies.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
