We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Ads Experience team. In this role, you will take technical ownership of major features and sub-systems within our monetization ecosystem, including Advertiser Experience (Roblox Ads Manager), Brand Experience (Brand Ads & Integrations), and Publisher Experience (Creator Monetization & Commerce).
- As a Senior Software Engineer, you are a technical leader who can navigate ambiguity, design scalable full-stack solutions, and mentor earlier-career engineers. You will bridge the gap between high-level product vision and robust technical execution, ensuring our ads platform is performant, reliable, and intuitive.
You Will
- Lead Ads Manager Development: Drive the technical design and implementation of core modules within our flagship Ads Manager. You will build complex, data-heavy features - such as campaign optimization tools and real-time analytics.
- Scale Brand Ads Systems: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of immersive 3D ad units. You will optimize the delivery mechanisms and backend services to ensure seamless, high-performance ad serving across millions of concurrent game sessions.
- Empower Creators: Design and build self-service tools and sophisticated reporting dashboards that enable creators to manage their ad inventory and understand their monetization health at scale.
- Technical Design & Excellence: Author comprehensive technical design documents for new features. You will ensure the team’s codebase is maintainable, scalable, and follows best practices..
- Implement AI-Driven Features: Work with ML teams to integrate AI-powered capabilities into the ad experience, such as automated creative generation or intelligent bidding suggestions for advertisers.
You Have
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-scale production systems.
- Deep experience in modern frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript) and backend development (Go, C#). You are comfortable moving across the stack to solve problems.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and working with high-throughput data stores.
- Experience (or a deep interest) in Ad Tech concepts such as campaign management, tracking, reporting, or auction-based systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead medium-to-large projects from conception to launch, including writing design specs and coordinating with cross-functional partners.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, or or equivalent experience.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
- Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
