What You'll Do
- Overall Impact
- Act as the design lead within your tripod, partnering closely with Product Management and Engineering to guide product discovery, usability standards, and customer learning.
- Take ownership of large, ambiguous problems, and confidently contribute hypotheses and solutions across multiple surfaces to drive clarity and cohesion.
- Effectively influence direction through design storytelling, research synthesis, and clear product thinking.
- Anticipate edge cases and usability risks early; drive evidence-led iteration across EA, beta, and GA.
- Uplevel those around you through mentorship, feedback, and active contributions to team rituals and process improvement.
- Raise the bar for usability within a product area, contributing new patterns to our design system to empower team-wide efficiency at scale.
- Usability Ownership
- Lead usability across your tripod by framing problems, surfacing assumptions, and co-creating solutions informed by data and user insights.
- Set and uphold the usability bar from early access to GA, ensuring iterative work feels usable, intuitive, valuable, and closely connected to our business strategy.
- Optimize for speed to value while clearly articulating smart quality tradeoffs and building highly usable experiences through a longer journey of experimentation.
- Apply deep product knowledge and business context to make strategic design decisions that prioritize user success.
- Participate in customer discovery sessions and serve as the expert on customer needs within an area
- Design Execution
- Model practices of testing and experimentation that enable fast learning and continuous value delivery into the hands of customers.
- Deliver detailed design specs with full states and interactions, leveraging and contributing to the design system.
- Turn complexity into simplicity by designing intuitive flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Track design decisions and rationale; share proactively to build shared understanding across teams.
- Identify, test, and scale new methods, tools, or workflows to improve design and development efficiency across products and teams.
- Lead Design QA in collaboration with Eng and QA partners, ensuring usability, consistency, and polish are upheld before launch.
- Collaboration & Tripod Leadership
- Serve as a trusted partner in your product tripod, owning usability and helping shape roadmap priorities, scope decisions, and product bets.
- Own the prioritization and scoping of design initiatives that span multiple projects, ensuring alignment and creating visibility where design work is happening.
- Facilitate alignment across disciplines by making problems visible to peers and leadership, decisions clear, and evidence central to the conversation.
- Support a culture of inclusive feedback by seeking input from peers and partners early and throughout the process while owning the ultimate usability outcome.
- Team Citizenship
- Model high standards of craft, collaboration, and accountability.
- Mentor mid-level designers, offering guidance on design systems, critique, and career growth. Share product thinking and usability expertise across the broader org, supporting cross-functional growth.
- Proactively contribute to team rituals for your tripod (crits, QAs, planning) and provide support to your design team peers for a net positive impact. Be a culture carrier, championing inclusivity, curiosity, and feedback in your day-to-day work.
What You Should Have
- 8–10 years of product design experience, including ownership of end-to-end solutions in modern SaaS environments.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating design leadership across complex, multi-state flows or systems.
- High level of expertise in Figma and a solid understanding of responsive design and design systems.
- Fluency in user-centered design principles, usability heuristics, and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Experience working in empowered product teams (tripods or trios) and driving outcomes through collaboration.
- Excellent storytelling and communication skills, bringing others along in your thinking.
- Self-directed, resilient, and proactive, you seek clarity, raise the bar, and unblock others.
- Highly accountable and strong prioritization skills
- Proven track record of influencing organizational design strategies beyond direct product scope.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with hypothesis-driven product development
