The Senior Lab Services Consultant / Architect is a customer-facing expert who:
- Leads end-to-end consulting engagements—from discovery, architecture design, and implementation to post-deployment optimization.
- Drives automation transformation initiatives, bringing innovative solutions including Agentic AI approaches, event-driven orchestration, and modern workflow practices.
- Owns complex modernization and migration programs, including transitions from competitive scheduling tools to HWA/IWS or Universal Orchestrator implementations.
- Partners closely with presales, product, engineering, delivery teams, and customer stakeholders to ensure technical success and business value realization.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage directly with customers to assess automation landscapes, conduct workshops, and gather detailed business and technical requirements.
- Perform architecture assessments, environment audits, and readiness reviews to define robust, scalable, and secure automation solutions.
- Provide proactive advisory, architectural guidance, and hands-on support throughout project lifecycles.
- Lead design, planning, and deployment of IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) and HCL Workload Automation (HWA) in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Define integration strategies with SAP, Oracle, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), Kubernetes, DevOps pipelines (Jenkins), ServiceNow, and other enterprise systems.
- Implement best practices for automation governance, standards, and operational excellence.
- Architect and integrate AI-driven automation patterns and agentic workflows to enhance business process efficiency.
Migration & Modernization
- Lead migration projects from legacy or competitive schedulers (Autosys, Control-M, Redwood, Automic, etc.) to HWA/IWS.
- Design and execute upgrade paths from older HWA/IWS versions to current supported releases.
- Develop scripts, conversion utilities, and bulk job automation approaches to streamline migration efforts.
Technical Delivery & Operations
- Install and configure IWS/HWA components and agents (FTA, DA, XA, SA) in Windows and UNIX environments.
- Implement security frameworks including SSL, certificate integration, and secure agent communications.
- Optimize automation environments for performance, scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational guides.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Mentor junior consultants, supporting skills growth and knowledge-sharing across the global team.
- Work across HCL Software and HCL Technologies teams to align solutions, delivery models, and customer outcomes.
- Participate in presales engagements by delivering assessments, scoping activities, and solution proposals.
Mandatory skills and Required Qualifications / Experience
- 10+ years of hands-on expertise with IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS/IWS) and/or HCL Workload Automation (HWA).
- Proven ability to design and architect enterprise workload automation solutions in hybrid cloud environments.
- Deep understanding of job scheduling concepts: job streams, dependencies, event rules, calendars, plugins, and orchestration patterns.
- Strong hands-on experience integrating HWA/IWS with:
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Windows, scripting languages (Shell, Python, PowerShell), and APIs (REST/SOAP).
- Expertise in:
- Some exposure to Camunda, BPMN-based workflow automation, or event-driven orchestration frameworks.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills at both technical and executive levels.
- Ability to create high-quality technical documentation and architecture deliverables.
- Flexibility to travel for onsite consulting assignments as needed.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- HCL Workload Automation or IBM Certified Solution Architect certification.
- Experience with major scheduler migration projects (Autosys, Control-M, Redwood, Automic, etc.).
- Familiarity with HCL Universal Orchestrator.
- Knowledge of ITSM / ITIL frameworks.
- Experience with Agentic AI, AI-driven workload orchestration, or intelligent automation platforms.
- Knowledge of Camunda open source platform for business process management (modeling , execution and workflow optimization)

Education:
- Bachelor’s /Master degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- ITIL Certification (preferred)
- Proven experience (8-12 years) in a senior, client-facing consulting role, preferably within a technology or software vendor environment.
- Expertise in BPO operations, in areas like order-to-cash (O2C), procure-to-pay (P2P) etc..
- Demonstrable track record of leading complex, large-scale technology implementation or digital transformation projects.
- Familiarity with the intelligent automation landscape (AI, RPA,…).
Travel:
- 25% to 50% travel required
